Dr. Kulin Kothari
Successfully treating patients with his esteemed knowledge and using the most advanced available technology since more than three decades, Dr. Kulin Kothari is the founder of BCEIRC. He has operated on more than 100,000 eye-patients, making him one of the most experienced and sought after eye specialist in the country. His core area of expertise includes cataract, glaucoma and general ophthalmology. Dr. Kulin Kothari received his medical degree from the University of Mumbai and thereafter pursued specialised trainings in the fields of cataract, glaucoma and refractive surgery across America and Europe.
Dr. Saumil Kothari
Specializing in cataract and refractive surgery, Dr. Saumil Kothari joined BCEIRC in 2006. He is widely recognized for his Laser vision correction surgeries and has been treating patients from across the globe since over a decade. After receiving his MBBS from Maharashtra University, he continued his academics at Aravind Eye Hospital & Post-Graduate Institute of Ophthalmology, Madurai. From the beginning of his ophthalmic practice, he has been exposed to many complicated cases, enriching his experience levels and overall understanding of the subject. Dr. Saumil Kothari is an active member of many national & international ophthalmic organizations and takes special interest in teaching post-graduate students and optometry interns. He is also an Associate Editor for the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, a publication issued by All India Ophthalmic Society.
Dr. Sonia Kothari
With focus on corneal disabilities, Dr. Sonia Kothari joined the panel of Doctors at BCEIRC in 2007. At BCEIRC she is a specialist in treating patients affected with cornea, limbal stem cell deficiency and ocular surface diseases. She has pursued MBBS from Maharashtra University and also holds a Diploma in Ophthalmology from the University of Chennai. Dr. Sonia Kothari has exceptional skills in Lamellar KKeratoplasty and using RoseK contact lenses in the management of irregular corneas. She also provides surgical training in ECCE, Small-Incision Cataract Surgery, Phacoemulsification and Corneal transplant to the students at BCEIRC.
Dr. Vaishali Jadhav
A renowned specialist in treating Glaucoma, Dr. Vaishali Jadhav is part of the Ophthalmology field for over two decades. A Glaucoma consultant at BCEIRC, she has keen interest in congenital glaucoma and angle closure glaucoma. She is a MBBS & MS in Ophthalmology from the Pune University and has pursued her Fellowship in Glaucoma from SankaraNethralaya, Chennai. Her international exposure includes ICO Fellowship in Glaucoma from Switzerland and learning about the latest technologies available for Glaucoma in the United Kingdom. She was also one of the faculty members at the Nair Hospital, Mumbai.
Dr. Neha Jain
Dr. Neha Jain is a MBBS graduate from Padmashri Dr. D Y Patil Medical College, Nerul (2007 MUHS batch) with a distinction in Ophthalmology. She did her internship at Rajawadi Hospital, Vidyavihar. She then pursued her DNB in Opthalmology from K J Somaiya Medical College and Research Center, Mumbai which she completed in 2011. To gain further clinical and surgical experience she worked as a senior registrar at Nair and Jaslok Hospital. Developing a keen interest in retina she pursued a year long medical retina fellowship at Hinduja Hospital in 2013 and then went on to do a long term Surgicalvitreoretina fellowship from Shri Ganpati Netralaya, Jalna which she completed in 2015. She has also done a short term fellowship in pediatric retina with an emphasis on retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) from Arvind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore. She has worked in the department of retina at J J Hospital prior to joining Bombay City Eye Institute and Research Centre as a retina consultant in September 2017.
Dr. Akash Shah
Dr. Akash Shah our orbit, occuloplasty and aesthetic specialist did his graduation from Topiwala National Medical College Mumbai and post-graduation from the prestigious BJ Medical College in Pune. He was awarded Gold medal for topping the university. He also successfully completed his Diplomate in National Board and the basic course of International Council Of Ophthalmology. He did his long term fellowship in Orbit, Occuloplasty and Ocular Oncology from Arvind Eye Hospital Madurai and ICO International fellowship from Ghent University Hospital Belgium under Dr. Christian Decock. He has presented papers in various National and International conferences also he has publications in National and International Journals.
Dr. Shalini Kaul
Dr. Shalini Kaul our Paediatric Ophthalmologist is one of the first trained paediatric ophthalmologist of Mumbai. Having operated more than 5000 squint patients, she has vast experience of managing simple, complex adult as well as paediatric strabismus. Having completed her MBBS from Government Medical College, Jammu. She did her post-graduation from Rotary Eye Institute Navsari Gujarat. She pursued her super specialization in paediatric Ophthalmology and Strbismus from the prestigious Sankara Nethralaya Chennai under the agesis of Orbis International. She has worked as a Senior Consultant in leading Eye Hospitals of Mumbai and Chennai. She has presented various papers in national and international conferences and has various papers in leading peer reviewed journals.
Her particular area of interest is management of mentally disabled children.
Dr. Bindu Yadav
A specialist in cataract surgery. Dr. Bindu Yadav is a Consultant at BCEIRC. A post-graduate in ophthalmology from Grant Medical College, Mumbai. She has further enriched her knowledge in ophthalmology through courses in paediatric ophthalmology and phacoemulsification cataract surgery. Her experience includes working at the famous Giridhar Eye Institute, Kochi. She is also an important part of the phaco training program for the fellows at BCEIRC. She has also presented various posters in prestigious conferences of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Soumya Kurup
Dr. Soumya Kurup brings with her immense knowledge backed by her academic excellence. She is a graduate from Diplomate of National Board from the Jubilee Mission Medical College, Kerala and MBBS from the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Maharashtra, Dr. Kurup has even represented India in the National Congress of Emergency Medicine. She has successfully cleared the basic examination at International Council Of Ophthalmology. Having completed her comprehensive Ophthalmology and phacoemulsification fellowship from BCEIRC, she now handles the charitable wing of our hospital.
